Welcome to the White Horse Inn, set in the stunning Vale of Clwyd, North Wales, and nestled on the very edge of the Clwydian Range (AONB). Surrounded by rolling hills and lush farmland, we’re truly spoilt by both our beautiful location and the incredible local produce on offer. That local, you may even bump into one of our local farmers or suppliers in the snug bar! Jason, Lucy, and the team have been serving fresh, locally sourced food and drink with a warm welcome since 2012.
Why not come and join us?
Our menus change daily, driven by the seasons, supply, and a commitment to serving only the finest. No apologies, just great food at its freshest. Here's a little 'sample' of some of our most popular dishes, our regulars can't stop talking about. We serve 'small plates' so you can try a bit of everything you fancy,' no food envy here'. Dishes come out when they're ready, tapas-style!
At the bar, you’ll discover a well-kept and impressively stocked haven, brimming with all the usual suspects - real ales flowing from the taps, exceptional craft beers, exquisite wines, and top-notch spirits. Plus, our selection of soft drinks is just as remarkable, and you won’t find a single bottle of J20 in sight! We’re proudly muddy boot and wet dog friendly, so come as you are, whether two-legged or four.
The White Horse is tucked away in the sleepy hamlet of Hendrerwydd, between the historic market towns of Denbigh and Ruthin, The White Horse is our little corner of foodie heaven. Surrounded by stunning countryside and watched over by the Clwydian Range, it’s a proper hidden gem. Blink and you may miss us, but we promise it’s well worth calling in
Unashamedly, we’re foodies and winos, but at the heart of it all, we’re still very much your local pub. Good food, great wine, and proper pints, all served with that down-to-earth charm you’d expect from your favourite local. Every pint poured and plate served helps keep our community thriving. Come for the food, stay for the locals. Just don’t be surprised if you can’t get a word in edgeways.
With over 25 years of culinary know-how, Head Chef Jason and Sous Chef Damo bring serious flavour to every plate, without ever taking themselves too seriously. Our menu is a love letter to the Vale of Clwyd and the incredible produce the British Isles proudly delivers, all sourced from trusted farmers and producers. Whether you’re tucking into a Friday night special in the snug or sharing a few small plates in the restaurant, every bite (and sip) reflects our quiet obsession with quality and just a little bit of flair.
We’re always on the lookout for legends to join our team. Yes, it’s hard work, yes, the hours are weird, and no, your nan won’t understand your shift pattern… but the banter’s top-tier, the team’s brilliant, and there’s usually chips & tips involved. If you fancy working with us, pretend it’s the 90s and either call us or pop round. Ask an ‘old person!’ if you don’t know what we mean!

Just a heads-up we’re a very small independent & we can’t cater for every dietary need, but we’ll always do our very best to keep you well fed and happy.
If you manage to get a pram through our door, congrats! Although you’ve just re-enacted the Suez Canal blockage, but with snacks and nappies. We totally get it (we’ve got kids too), but fair warning: it’s a bit of a tight squeeze & we kindly ask to leave all prams in your boot or outside the pub.
At The White Horse, we always aim to put our best foot forward usually the clean one and we continuously work hard to make sure your experience with us is as delightful as a Yorkshire pudd on a Sunday afternoon. We’re so incredibly proud of our team; they’re the beating heart of this pub (alongside the incredible food & beers, obviously). Now, while we strive for perfection, we’re still mere mortals, not hospitality-shaped robots, so occasionally things may go a bit… sideways. We all have good & bad days except.
We’d love to agree that the customer is always right, but let’s be honest if you insist your steak should be cooked rare, medium-well, and vegan all at once, we may struggle. And as for TripAdvisor… well, we prefer the age-old wisdom of “if you’ve nothing nice to say, pop the kettle on instead.”
The British hospitality industry is tough enough without emotional damage from a two-star review titled “My Chips Looked Judgemental”. So… let’s all remember: #BeKind #BeUnderstanding and most importantly, #ItsOnlyAMealNotMajorSurgery. #SupportBritishHospitality
If we’re not your cup of tea, please go a support another incredible local hospitality business that could be more up you’re ally.
When leaving after a good time, please channel your inner ninja, not a full brass marching band. We’ve got lovely neighbours (who actually like us), and we’d love to keep it that way!
Love and gravy,
The White Horse Team
